Technology & Communications & Media

Client

Dormer Pramet s.r.o. — a leading global manufacturer and supplier of cutting tools for metalworking applications.

Legal Support Area

Inclusion of trademarks in the Customs Register, border protection of intellectual property, and anti-counterfeiting measures.

Project Summary

In 2024, Dormer Pramet s.r.o. engaged Polikarpov Law Firm to prevent the importation of counterfeit products into Ukraine under its registered trademarks. To strengthen IP enforcement at the border, the client decided to record the Dormer (IR No. 1342223) and Pramet (IR No. 1165872) trademarks with the Ukrainian Customs Register.

The client supplied comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, marketing materials, and samples of commonly counterfeited products, along with a list of authorized Ukrainian distributors.

Our legal team meticulously analyzed the documentation and developed detailed identification criteria for customs inspection. We created precise product descriptions and practical guidelines to help customs officers distinguish genuine tools from counterfeits.

Throughout the process, we maintained close collaboration with the State Customs Service of Ukraine to ensure alignment with current enforcement practices.

Client’s Goals

Our client sought to protect their Dormer and Pramet trademarks from unauthorized use and counterfeit imports. This required implementing robust detection mechanisms at customs clearance points while ensuring transparent distribution through authorized channels in Ukraine.

Project Complexity

The project presented several challenges: managing a complex network of legitimate distributors, creating detailed identification protocols for an extensive product range, and maintaining effective communication with customs authorities to meet current enforcement standards.

Actions by Polikarpov Law Firm

We conducted comprehensive trademark analysis, prepared detailed customs documentation, and developed clear identification guidelines for customs officials. Our team managed the entire registration process while establishing an effective monitoring system for border control and registration renewal.
